HABC Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering Course Overview

The Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering is a qualification intended for learners working in catering and those who are preparing to work in the industry. Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. The subjects covered are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to ensure good practice and the production of safe food.

The Level 1 in Food Safety is also suitable as part of a college or alternative education program and is a good way to give young people on these courses a nationally recognised qualification in Food Safety.

Our aim at Good Skills Training is that all delegates should enjoy their Level 1 Food Safety Course and that by the end of their course all delegates should be confidently aware of their legal duties when handing food and be able to help prevent food poisoning.

3 Guided Learning Hours.

Usually run over ½ a day, 09:30 – 12:30 (other times can be arranged)

There are no formal prerequisites for this course.

HABC Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering Course Assessment Process

This qualification is assessed through a 15-question multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes.

Successful learners must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15.
