Catastrophic Bleeding Workshop

The Catastrophic Bleeding Workshop is designed specifically for first aiders from organisations that operate in high risk industries and have decided to store tourniquets and/or haemostatic dressings in their first aid kits. The Catastrophic Bleeding Workshop will give the learners with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence on how to apply a tourniquet and haemostatic dressings.

Who is the Course For?

First Aiders from a high-risk work sector who have decided to carry tourniquets and/or haemostatic dressings

First Aid Instructors looking to carry out relevant CPD in Catastrophic Bleeds

Anyone else with an interest in First Aid CPD 

Course Syllabus

  • Recognising a catastrophic external bleed
  • Catastrophic external bleeding equipment
  • Catastrophic external bleed control measures
  • Casualty aftercare
  • Dangers of the incorrect use of tourniquets and haemostatic products 

Course Prerequisites

This workshop is aimed at current first aiders who already have an understanding on how to manage bleeds. 

The course can also be added as a bolt on to First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work, but will only require one hour in that case.

Awarding Body

There is no awarding body for this course, but it is certificated by Good Skills Training

The Catastrophic Bleeding Workshop has a maximum learner to tutor ratio of 12:1

Requalification Process

Like all Health and Safety and First Aid related courses, it is strongly recommended that learners undergo refresher training at least every 3-years.
