The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Course is a 1-day course aimed at those who work in an environment where coming into contact with hazardous substances is likely, such as caretakers, cleaners, workers in manufacturing and engineering, healthcare, transport, utilities and some office environments. At the end of the course learners will understand the law relating COSHH, how to assess hazardous substances and what precautions should be taken when working with such materials. 

Who is the COSHH Course for?

  • Any workers who are likely to come into contact with hazardous materials in their workplace
  • The course is designed for those aged over 14 years

What is in the COSHH Course syllabus?

  • Legal requirements relating to hazardous substances
  • Risks and hazards associated with hazardous substances
  • Risk assessing hazardous substances and the connection to safely using hazardous substances
  • Appropriate precautions and procedures to minimise risks when working with hazardous substances 

How long does it take to complete the COSHH Course?

  • This course is normally completed in one day, 4-6 contact hours depending on your companies’ procedures 

What will be included in my COSHH Course?

  • Training to national standards
  • Manual for each learner
  • Certificates on successfully completing the course. 

How is the COSHH Course Assessed?

  • The course is continually assessed by our tutor 

How is the COSHH Course certificated, or Accredited?

  • The COSHH Course is certificated by Good Skills Training
  • This course is not formally accredited.
  • If you wold like an accredited qualification please see the Highfield Level 2 Award in COSHH, or the QNUK Level 2 Award in COSHH

How do I renew my COSHH Course?

  • There is no formal expiry on COSHH Course.
  • As with all health and safety training, there is a requirement that staff have up to date knowledge and skills. It would therefore, be worthwhile that staff undergo periodic refresher training.
