About the training
About Asbestos Awareness Training
Asbestos awareness training is for people who may come across asbestos-containing materials during their normal work but are not employed to remove or deliberately disturb asbestos. It is about recognition and safe decision-making, not asbestos removal.
What does asbestos awareness cover?
Learners look at where asbestos may be found, the health risks from exposure, how fibres can be released and the situations that should make someone stop and seek advice. We use practical examples so people can relate the subject to the buildings and work they actually encounter.
A useful outcome is not that someone thinks they can identify every asbestos-containing material by sight. It is that they understand the warning signs, know their limits and do not press on when something does not look right.
Does awareness training cover work on asbestos?
No. Awareness training does not qualify someone to remove or intentionally disturb asbestos-containing materials. If your staff carry out work that may disturb asbestos, tell us exactly what they do and we will help you identify the appropriate training route.
