Learners should tell us before the course about any disability, injury, medical condition or additional support requirement that could affect their participation so that appropriate support and reasonable adjustments can be considered.
The Forestry Emergency First Aid at Work course is delivered face-to-face over 1 extended training day.
The course includes the Emergency First Aid at Work content together with an additional forestry-specific element covering catastrophic bleeding, wound packing, tourniquets, haemostatic dressings and remote-working emergencies.
The day combines tutor-led learning with demonstrations, practical exercises, realistic forestry scenarios and assessment.
The Forestry Emergency First Aid at Work course is assessed through a combination of a multiple-choice knowledge assessment and practical assessment.
Learners complete a 20-question multiple-choice assessment. They have a maximum of 30 minutes to complete the paper and must correctly answer at least 15 out of 20 questions to pass.
Learners must also successfully demonstrate the required emergency first aid skills during practical assessments.
The forestry-specific practical assessment includes responding to life-threatening bleeding and demonstrating the appropriate use of wound-packing techniques, haemostatic dressings and commercial tourniquets.
Learners must successfully complete both the knowledge and practical assessment requirements to achieve the course.
Learners who successfully complete the course and assessment receive a Good Skills Training Forestry Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years.
