This practical Level 1 qualification gives learners a clear introduction to food safety in a manufacturing environment. It is designed to help people understand why good hygiene matters, how contamination happens and the everyday actions that help keep food safe. It is a useful starting point for low-risk or support roles and a stepping stone to Level 2 training.

Maximum 20 learners per tutor.

Prerequisites

Learners must be aged 14 or over to register for this qualification. Highfield advises a minimum of Level 1 English and maths, or equivalent. If you require additional learning or assessment support, please let us know when booking so appropriate support and any reasonable adjustments can be considered before the course.

Course duration

Official qualification duration: 4 guided learning hours (GLH) and 4 hours total qualification time (TQT). Good Skills Training delivery: We normally schedule this qualification as half a day. The exact timetable can vary by delivery route while still meeting the qualification requirements. Qualify at Home: self-paced e-learning. Learners complete the learning at their own pace before completing the required Highfield assessment/invigilation arrangements for the qualification.

Assessment

15-question multiple-choice examination completed in 30 minutes. Pass mark: 66% (10/15). If you need additional learning or assessment support, please tell us before the course so we have time to discuss appropriate support and, where applicable, reasonable adjustments in line with Highfield requirements.

Certification

Successful learners receive the relevant Highfield Qualifications regulated qualification certificate, subject to meeting all assessment requirements and Highfield quality assurance processes.

Requalification

Employers should refresh training in line with risk, role, legal requirements and organisational policy. It is best practice to refresh every 3-years or be able to show CPD gained to keep knowledge current and relevant to your role.in the area
