The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is designed to prepare trainee teachers to be able to acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be effective in the adult learning environment and build on the skills learnt in the QNUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training. the bench-mark qualification when starting to teach in adult education, covering the principles of inclusive teaching and assessment. This is the perfect first step qualification to enhance your skills as a trainer or move towards a career in professional training.

People who are already teaching but wish to enhance their professional development
Those that require a qualification which has a knowledge and applied skills focus
Syllabus
The Course is made up of five mandatory and four optional units. Learners must achieve 15 credits from the optional units.
Mandatory Units include:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training
- Delivering education and training
- Assessing learners in education and training
- Using resources for education and training

Prerequisites
Hold qualification/s and occupational experience in the subject matter they wish to teach
Have access to learners to be able to apply the skills contained within this qualification and be assessed in a teaching capacity
Hold, have equivalent to or can work to a minimum of Level 2 English functional skills
Can demonstrate the ability to study at Level 4 (an academic style of writing using a recognised system of referencing)
Take an initial assessment for Maths, English and ICT skills. It is recommended that candidates for this qualification (trainee teachers) achieve a minimum of Level 2 English and Maths competency prior to the completion of this qualification.
This qualification is aimed at those over 19
There are no other pre-requisites for this qualification.

The QNUK Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training requires the following time:

Total Qualification Time: 360
Good Skills Training normally deliver this course over
This is an intensive course, which should be considered when booking on the course. There is pre-course reading and preparation work required, along with homework set each evening. There will also be coursework to complete with deadlines agreed by the learners and tutor on the course.

Assessment Method
Candidates are required to complete a portfolio of evidence, including completion of written assignments, lesson plans, self-evaluations, peer evaluations and delivery of an assessed micro teach session.

This a lifetime qualification, although professional trainers are expected to undertake regular CPD
