The Highfield Level 1 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety Awareness is designed for all staff members and to help them understand that fire safety is a shared responsibility and what is expected of them in the event of a fire.

Who is the Course For?

The qualification is aimed at all staff, particularly new starters in any workplace, where a basic understanding of fire safety is required.

Syllabus

  • The components of the fire triangle
  • The main causes of fire in the workplace
  • Reducing the likelihood of a fire
  • The actions to take upon hearing the fire alarm
  • Types of fire-fighting equipment and their uses

Prerequisite

  • It is recommended that learners have a minimum of Level 1 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
  • The recommended minimum age to undertake this qualification is 14 years.
  • There are no other pre-requisites for this qualification.

Course Duration

4 contact hours.
