Maximum learner-to-tutor ratio: 12:1.
There are no formal prerequisites for attending the Asbestos Awareness Course.
Learners should have sufficient understanding of English to follow the training, take part in discussion and complete the required knowledge checks.
If a learner has a disability, medical condition or additional support requirement that may affect their participation, please tell us before the course so suitable support or reasonable adjustments can be considered.
This is asbestos awareness training only. It does not provide the information, instruction and training required for people who will deliberately work on or disturb asbestos-containing materials.
The Asbestos Awareness Course provides approximately 4 hours of face-to-face training and is normally delivered as a half-day session.
Good Skills Training normally offers the course at the following times:
The timetable allows time for explanation, workplace examples, discussion, questions and knowledge checks rather than simply working through presentation slides.
For in-house training, examples can be related to your premises, asbestos-management arrangements and the types of work undertaken by your employees.
Understanding is checked throughout the course through tutor questioning and knowledge checks.
The tutor uses questions, examples and discussion to check that learners understand where asbestos may be encountered, why disturbing it can be dangerous and what action they should take if asbestos-containing material is suspected or accidentally disturbed.
This is awareness training rather than a regulated qualification, so the purpose of the knowledge checks is to confirm understanding of the essential safety messages rather than create an unnecessarily formal examination environment.
Learners who successfully complete the course receive a Good Skills Training Asbestos Awareness certificate.
Good Skills Training is ISO 9001 certified for the delivery of training and consultancy services, including course certification.
This is an asbestos awareness course rather than a regulated qualification.
The certificate confirms completion of awareness training. It does not authorise the learner to undertake work that deliberately disturbs or removes asbestos-containing materials.
There is no fixed expiry for this GST course unless stated in the booking confirmation. Employers should schedule refresher training when procedures, risks or guidance change, or where practice shows it is needed.
