Evacuation Chair Train the Trainer Course

Our Evacuation Chair Train the Trainer Course is designed for people who need to train others to use evacuation chairs safely within their organisation or as part of their professional training role. The course goes beyond simply learning how to operate an evacuation chair. Learners first develop and demonstrate the practical skills needed to prepare, check and use the equipment safely before learning how to teach, demonstrate, supervise and assess evacuation chair operators. We also look at the wider evacuation arrangements surrounding the equipment, including emergency evacuation planning, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), selecting appropriate evacuation arrangements, checking the suitability of the chair and escape route, equipment checks and the importance of regular practice. An evacuation chair is not automatically the right solution for every person or every building. Effective evacuation planning needs to consider the individual, their ability to transfer and use the equipment, the premises, escape route, available assistance and the organisation's emergency procedures. The course is highly practical. Learners spend time operating the evacuation chair, developing demonstration and coaching techniques, supervising practice and delivering a micro-teach session. By the end of the course, successful learners should be able to deliver practical evacuation chair operator training within the scope of their own competence and the equipment and procedures used by their organisation.
