Practical evacuation chair operator training for staff who may need to assist people with reduced mobility during an emergency. Learners develop the knowledge, confidence and hands-on skills needed to prepare and operate an evacuation chair safely.
During an emergency, lifts may be unavailable and some people may be unable to use stairs without assistance. Organisations therefore need suitable evacuation arrangements that reflect their premises, emergency plan and the individual needs of employees, visitors and contractors.
Our Evacuation Chair Operator Training course gives learners practical experience of preparing and operating an evacuation chair. The session covers safe communication, equipment checks, positioning, controlled stair descent and the operator’s role within wider emergency arrangements, including Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) where appropriate.
This is a practical course, with learners taking part in supervised exercises using the evacuation chair and a suitable staircase. Our trainer explains each stage clearly and gives learners time to practise, ask questions and build confidence. Quality training at affordable prices should still be engaging and easy to understand — it does not have to be an alien concept.
This course is suitable for employees who may be expected to operate an evacuation chair or support emergency evacuation arrangements, including:
No previous evacuation chair experience is required. Learners must be physically able to take part safely in the practical exercises.

Feedback from organisations that have used our services.
We have been working with Good Skills Training over the past seven years as they provide First Aid training for our staff. They have continuously offered a friendly and professional service, from each initial enquiry, through to booking and delivery. On occasions, we have made specific requests, and they have always been willing to accommodate our requirements. As school funding continues to be restricted, we have found that they offer a quality provision at a competitive price. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering using their services.
Good Skills Training have been a mainstay in our training calendar for more than 10 years and have continually provided an excellent service to our site. All of our first aid training has been delivered to the highest standard and helped ensure Birds Eye, Lowestoft maintains a compliant and well trained team of first aiders. The management and instructors at Good Skills conduct themselves with integrity and dedication at all times. A highly recommended service!
Urban Pubs & Bars has worked with Ian and the Good Skills Training team for close to three years now.
