The Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Course is a half-day course aimed at those who work in an environment where coming into contact with hazardous substances is likely, such as caretakers, cleaners, workers in manufacturing and engineering, healthcare, transport, utilities and some office environments. At the end of the course learners will understand the law relating COSHH, how to assess hazardous substances and what precautions should be taken when working with such materials.

Who is the Course For?

This qualification is for those working in environments where the use of hazardous substances is an identified risk. The qualification introduces the principles of working with substances classified under COSHH.

  • Legal requirements relating to hazardous substances
  • Risks and hazards associated with hazardous substances
  • Risk assessing hazardous substances and the connection to safely using hazardous substances
  • Appropriate precautions and procedures to minimise risks when working with hazardous substances

Prerequisite

Learners should be at least 14 years old in order to undertake the qualification.There are no other pre-requisites for this qualification.

Course Duration

4 contact hours.
Good Skills Training normally deliver this course 09:00 – 13:15.

There is no awarding body for this course, but it is certificated by Good Skills Training.

Re-Qualification

As with all health and safety related courses, it is recommended that staff undergo refresher training on a regular basis. For COSHH Training this is normally every 3-years.
