Course Overview
This COSHH qualification helps learners recognise hazardous substances, understand how exposure can occur and identify the controls that reduce risk. We relate the legal principles to the substances and situations people are likely to meet at work.

Course Information
The practical details you may need before arranging or booking this course.
Maximum learners
Maximum 12 learners per tutor. A smaller group may be recommended where the session includes detailed practical assessment or where the venue limits safe practice space.
Prerequisites
There are no formal qualification prerequisites. Highfield recommends a minimum of Level 1 English, or equivalent. If you require additional learning or assessment support, please let us know when booking so appropriate support and any reasonable adjustments can be considered before the course.
Course duration
Official qualification duration: 5 guided learning hours (GLH) and 6 hours total qualification time (TQT).
Good Skills Training delivery: We normally schedule this qualification as 1 day. The exact timetable can vary by delivery route while still meeting the qualification requirements.
Assessment
15-question multiple-choice examination completed in 30 minutes. Learners must answer at least 9/15 correctly to pass. If you need additional learning or assessment support, please tell us before the course so we have time to discuss appropriate support and, where applicable, reasonable adjustments in line with Highfield requirements.
Certification
Successful learners receive the relevant Highfield Qualifications regulated qualification certificate, subject to meeting all assessment requirements and Highfield quality assurance processes.
Requalification
There is no fixed universal requalification period stated for every Highfield qualification. Employers should refresh training in line with risk, role, legal requirements and organisational policy. Where a specific refresher qualification exists, we can advise on the most appropriate route.
