Find the right first aid course

First aid course names can make this look more complicated than it needs to be. Start with your workplace risks, who needs the training and what you need them to be able to deal with.

Emergency First Aid at Work

For many lower-risk workplaces, Emergency First Aid at Work provides the core emergency skills a nominated first aider needs.

First Aid at Work and specialist training

For workplaces needing broader first aid provision, First Aid at Work covers a wider range of injuries and illnesses and is normally delivered over three days.

Not sure what your workplace needs?

Paediatric, outdoor, forestry, AED and other specialist courses are available where the people, environment or risks mean standard workplace first aid is not the best fit.

A useful thing to know about First Aid Training

The best first aider is not the person who can recite the manual. It is the person who can recognise what is happening, make a sensible decision and start helping.

About the training

About First Aid Training

First aid training is one of those subjects where practical confidence matters. People need to know what to do, but they also need to have practised doing it so the first time they put someone in the recovery position is not during a real emergency.

Which first aid course do we need?

That depends on your first aid needs assessment, the risks in your workplace and who you are training. Emergency First Aid at Work suits many lower-risk workplaces; First Aid at Work covers a broader range of injuries and illnesses. We also provide paediatric, outdoor, forestry, AED, catastrophic bleeding and other specialist options.

If you are requalifying existing first aiders, do not automatically book them onto the full initial course. There may be a shorter requalification route if they meet the requirements.

How we deliver first aid training

Our courses are practical, interactive and relevant to the people in the room. We use scenarios, discussion and repeated practice rather than asking learners to sit through a day of slides. If you are not sure which course fits your workplace, tell us what you do and we will help you work it out.

I thoroughly enjoyed Suzi's delivery of the course, it was really informative and interactive which helped embed the information. It is the best first aid course I have attended. I would recommend this course to colleagues.

I liked that throughout the 2 days, Larry would not only tell us what to do and the signs and symptoms of babies and children, but adults as well.

Suzie was very knowledgable and engaging. The hands on practical and interaction made the course more enjoyable. I’ve come away from the course feeling much more confident in handling first aid emergencies.
