Refresh essential first aid skills between formal qualifications. This practical session helps workplace first aiders maintain confidence in CPR, AED use and emergency response.
Our First Aid Annual Refresher Course helps qualified first aiders maintain their practical skills and confidence between full requalification courses.
The session revisits essential emergency procedures, including incident assessment, CPR, AED use, recovery position, choking and serious bleeding. Learners have the opportunity to practise, ask questions and discuss any changes or situations they have encountered.
First aid skills can fade when they are not used regularly. A short annual refresher provides useful hands-on practice and helps organisations keep first aid arrangements active rather than relying on a certificate gained several years earlier.
Refresher training: The HSE strongly recommends annual first aid refresher training during the three-year certification period. This is best-practice guidance rather than a separate annual legal qualification requirement.
Suitable for anyone who currently holds Emergency First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work or another relevant first aid qualification and wants to refresh practical skills.

N/A - The First Aid Annual Refresher Course is not a qualification, but forms part of the CPD required for first aiders between their requalification dates.
Learners are required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore learners must be physically capable of doing this.

Answers to some of the most common questions about this service.
A First Aid at Work certificate is normally valid for three years.
Before it expires, you should complete a First Aid at Work Requalification course to renew your qualification.
Our advice is to book your requalification well before the expiry date rather than leaving it until the last minute. Courses fill up, staff availability changes and three years has an annoying habit of arriving quicker than expected.
The HSE also strongly recommends that first aiders undertake annual refresher training during the three-year certification period to help maintain their skills.
Feedback from organisations that have used our services.
We have been working with Good Skills Training over the past seven years as they provide First Aid training for our staff. They have continuously offered a friendly and professional service, from each initial enquiry, through to booking and delivery. On occasions, we have made specific requests, and they have always been willing to accommodate our requirements. As school funding continues to be restricted, we have found that they offer a quality provision at a competitive price. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering using their services.
Good Skills Training have been a mainstay in our training calendar for more than 10 years and have continually provided an excellent service to our site. All of our first aid training has been delivered to the highest standard and helped ensure Birds Eye, Lowestoft maintains a compliant and well trained team of first aiders. The management and instructors at Good Skills conduct themselves with integrity and dedication at all times. A highly recommended service!
Urban Pubs & Bars has worked with Ian and the Good Skills Training team for close to three years now. We have found them to be thoroughly professional, very competitively priced and incredibly accommodating to our business needs. We certainly hope to be working with Good Skills Training for more years to come.
