First Aid at Work Requalification Course

Our First Aid at Work Requalification Course is for existing First Aid at Work first aiders who need to renew their qualification and continue acting as a workplace first aider. The course refreshes and develops the knowledge and practical skills covered within the full First Aid at Work course, giving experienced first aiders the opportunity to revisit essential lifesaving skills and practise dealing with a wider range of workplace injuries and medical emergencies. Learners cover casualty assessment, CPR and AED use, choking, seizures, bleeding and shock, alongside injuries and illnesses such as burns, fractures, head and spinal injuries, asthma, anaphylaxis, heart attack and stroke. Because learners already have First Aid at Work experience, the course builds on their existing knowledge rather than starting again from the beginning. We use practical exercises, discussion and realistic workplace scenarios to refresh skills, correct techniques and explore how first aid decisions are made in real situations. The course can be completed over 2 days face-to-face or through our blended learning option, where approximately one-third of the learning is completed online before attending 1 full classroom day for the required practical training and assessment. Learners should normally complete their requalification before their existing First Aid at Work certificate expires. Where unavoidable circumstances prevent this, requalification may be completed within the permitted one-month period after expiry. This does not extend the existing certificate – once it has expired, the individual cannot be counted as a workplace first aider until they have successfully requalified. We don't just refresh the sequence of what to do. We help experienced first aiders understand why they're doing it, recognise when something isn't right and make appropriate first aid decisions when faced with a real emergency.
