Course Overview
Fire extinguishers can help control a small fire, but only when the correct equipment is available and it is safe to use it. Our Fire Extinguisher Training Course explains the different extinguisher types, the classes of fire they are intended for and the risks of using the wrong equipment.
Learners consider when an extinguisher may be appropriate, when evacuation must take priority and how to maintain a safe escape route. Where suitable arrangements are available, the course includes supervised practical use of water and carbon dioxide extinguishers.
The training supports workplace fire safety arrangements but does not encourage employees to take unnecessary risks. Firefighting equipment must be properly installed, maintained and provided on the basis of the premises fire risk assessment.

Assessment
Competency is not assessed on this course.
Certification
Learners who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance. This course is certificated through our ISO 9001 certification for the delivery of training and consultancy services, including course certification. Find out more here.
Requalification
As with all health and safety training it is recommended that staff undergo regular refresher training, it is best practice that this is every 3-years for fire extinguisher training.
Prerequisites
There must be a suitable outside space to let of extinguishers. Car parking will be required for the trainer. If this is not available, we will ask for details on the nearest car parking, and may pass these charges on. There are no prerequisites for this course.
