The Highfield Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering is specifically aimed at those that work in a low-risk role, where there is an element of food handling, but they would not be involved in the preparation of food, such as bar and waiting staff, kitchen porters, stock room or store staff etc. The course is also ideal as an introduction to food safety practices for school or college staff.

Who is the Course For?
Bar staff, waiting staff, kitchen porters and anyone else with an interest in basic food safety practices.
Syllabus
- The importance of personal hygiene and keeping work areas clean and hygienic in a catering environment.
- Personal responsibilities for food safety and how to keep food safe in a catering environment.
Prerequisite
- Learners are required to be 14 years of age or above.
- It is also advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English and maths, or equivalent.
Course Duration
4 contact hours.
Good Skills Training normally deliver this course over half a day, 09:30 – 13:45
